Afternoon Tea Boxes for residents of Old Palace, St Asaph

Following the completion of renovations over at Old Palace, St Asaph, W.F.Claytons donated £250 towards afternoon tea boxes for the tenants, as part of their social value commitment.

The afternoon tea boxes were bought from Age Cymru in Bontnewydd. It’s great to be able to support a local charity, which does so much for our tenants.

As part of the renovation work over the past year, the following work has been done:

Main Building:

  • New slate roof
  • Repairs and rebuilding of chimney stacks
  • Stonemasonry pointing, stone copings repair and replacement
  • Rainwater goods repairs
  • Timber window repairs
  • Replacement of hand rolled glass and glazing
  • Painting of windows

We have received the following feedback from Shelly on behalf of the tenants of Old Palace:

“I thought that I’d let you know that the tenants and I were incredibly happy with the work that Clayton’s has recently completed. Although the work took much longer than expected the operatives at Clayton’s always kept me and the tenants updated on the work and any upcoming issues/inconveniences. Dewi Thomas met with me at least weekly to give updates and then in turn I was able to pass on the information to the tenants. Their communication was key in ensuring that tenants remained patient.

“When we had issues with the carpark or there was an incident when kids had climbed the scaffolding and broke a tenant’s window, Clayton’s didn’t need to be asked to help out. They were courteous and very helpful with the tenants which both I and the tenants are truly grateful.

“Although we are very glad that the scaffolding has gone and the work has been completed, we were sad to see Clayton’s go as they have been a big part of life at The Old Palace in the last year.

“People are very quick to complain when service is bad, but I thought that it is important to let you know that the service the tenants had from Clayton’s over the past year was exemplary.”

There are a total of 46 flats at Old Palace, which provide sheltered accommodation for people over 55 or disabled.
